  • As a seasoned exercise professional entrepreneur turned academic, Dr. Zahavich will describe his experience navigating the public (and private) healthcare system as a CSEP Clinical Exercise Physiologist and NCCP Chartered Professional Coach. 

  • His presentation will provide tidbits of advice regarding how to leverage your professional network to create meaningful business opportunities, creative ways to market and promote your business offerings, and a comprehensive list of “things I wish I had of known then“ in effort to safeguard your mental and physical health as you journey through the exciting world of entrepreneurship.

From Good to Great: Unlocking athletes performance potential with the most current nutrition advice - Angela Dufour (MEd., RD., CSSD, IOC Dip Sports Nutr, CFE), Nutrition in Action

  • Delve into the critical role of how to deliver the most accurate and impactful messages to athletes. 

  • Enhance skills in sports nutrition to be able to address common myths, debunk misinformation and help clients optimize their performance nutrition.

  • Gain the confidence and expertise to deliver credible sports nutritional messages to clients to promote optimal training adaptations, promote recovery and help them elevate their performance both on and off the field.

An Introduction to Kinesiology Taping for Pain and Performance - Julia Mitchell (PT, BA HKIN (Hons), MScPT), RockTape Canada Instructor

  • Learn how to use kinesiology tape to help mitigate pain, using applications that can quickly and easily be applied to any area of the body.

  • Practice using kinesiology tape to help assist movement and performance using fascial lines and movement planes (tape movement, not muscles!).

The Role of the Qualified Exercise Professional in Proactive Health and Community Care - Karen Kendall (PhD, CSEP CEP), Acadia University

  • Learn about how CEPs in Nova Scotia are helping to bridge the gap between health care and community care. 
  • This presentation will highlight the model, referral pathways and the community-based health and wellness programs developed by the Centre for Lifestyle Studies.  
  • Program outcome data and feedback collected from program participants will be presented illustrating how CEPs are making a significant impact on the health of individuals living with chronic disease and frailty within the Annapolis Valley.
